Healing Through Connection:

Animal Assisted Services

When words aren't enough, sometimes a gentle paw or soft muzzle can reach places in our hearts that traditional therapy cannot touch.

The Magic of the Human-Animal Bond in Healing

There's something profound that happens when we're in the presence of an animal who sees us without judgment, accepts us without condition, and offers their calm, grounding energy exactly when we need it most. Your beloved companion already knows how to soothe your nervous system—they've been doing it every time they curl up beside you after a hard day or greet you with pure joy when you walk through the door.

What if we could invite that healing presence more intentionally into your therapeutic journey?

A Different Kind of Safety

Animals offer us something uniquely precious: neurobiological safety. When your dog rests their head on your lap during a difficult conversation, or when you feel your breathing slow as you stroke their fur, your nervous system is receiving a message that you're safe, you're loved, and you're not alone.

In our work together, we honor the wisdom your animal companion already holds about healing. Whether they're present in our sessions or we explore your relationship with them as a source of strength and insight, we're tapping into one of nature's most powerful healing resources.

How We Work Together

  • In-Session Support

Some healing happens best with a furry co-therapist by your side. If appropriate for your therapeutic goals, we can explore having your well-socialized companion join us for sessions, where their presence can:

    - Provide grounding and comfort during difficult processing

    - Help regulate your nervous system naturally

    - Offer a bridge when words feel too hard

    - Remind your body what safety feels like

  • Exploring Your Bond

Even when your animal isn't physically present, the relationship you share becomes a rich source of insight and healing. We might explore:

    - How your companion mirrors your emotional states

    - The lessons they offer about presence and acceptance

    - Ways they've supported you through life's challenges

    - How caring for them teaches you about caring for yourself

  • Building New Patterns

Animals are masters at living in the present moment—something many of us are learning to do. Through your relationship with your companion, we can discover new ways to:

    - Trust your instincts

    - Stay curious rather than reactive

    - Find joy in simple moments

    - Practice unconditional self-compassion

Who This Approach Serves

This work is beautiful for people who:

  • Have a deep connection with their animal companions

  • Feel more regulated and at ease in the presence of animals

  • Want to explore trauma or difficult emotions with additional support

  • Are learning to trust their own intuitive wisdom

  • Seek a gentler, more embodied approach to healing

What Makes This Different

As one of the few practitioners who deeply integrates EMDR, somatic therapy, and the human-animal bond, I understand how these approaches weave together to create profound healing. This isn't about animals as a distraction from the work—it's about recognizing them as wise teachers and healing partners who can guide us back to our most authentic, regulated selves.

A Note About Your Companion

Not every animal is suited for therapy work, and that's perfectly okay. Our four-legged friends have their own needs, boundaries, and comfort levels. If we explore having your companion join us, we'll always prioritize their wellbeing alongside yours, ensuring this is a positive experience for everyone involved.
